We went to Little India (Serangoon Road) on 4 April, 2000, Tuesday. Little India stretches from Rochor Canal to Lavendar Street. The Indians who settled here came mainly from Ceylon (Sri Lanka) and India. Although early Indians settled in Chulia Street (near Chinatown), most of them resettled to the present Little India due to the introduction of cattle rearing near the Rochor River. Those from Calcutta, Malaya, and Madras joined them soon after. Little India is presently the centre of the local Indian community.
